Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a Junior Architectural Designer (Architecture Designer II) to join our Houston or Dallas Team. The successful candidate will understand the value of leveraging the design platform that AECOM offers, which is access and collaboration with industry leading designers and technical experts in nearly every design and engineering field.

The current and near-term projects that this position would support will be transformational to the communities in which they exist. (you can add local and regional projects here if you think they are of interest and attract the targeted candidate)

Internally, this position will provide the opportunity to serve as an integral part of a planning and design practice that includes planners, landscape architects, architects, interior designers, engineers, and business development professionals. The position will require the ability to support design visions, concepts, and overall design process for complex multi-layered design problems and solutions.

Buildings + Places practice includes architects, interiors, building and system engineering, urbanism and planning (inclusive of landscape design) strategy + workplace consulting, economics, technology solutions, asset advisory and cost and program management.  The team assists our clients from strategy through project realization, and construction; creating positive outcomes for those who occupy and use the buildings and environments we help to create.  Within our practice you can expect to work on a wide range of small to large projects in varied market sectors such as Science & Technology, Advanced Manufacturing, Commercial, Aerospace, Higher Education, Industrial and Process, Transportation, Aviation and Federal market sectors.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing basic architectural/engineering calculations.

  • Preparing specifications, reports and related data tables.

  • Maintaining liaison with design and drafting groups.

  • Preparing, reviewing, and approving drawings as required.

  • Under the direction of the Supervising Architect, may perform technical assignments of moderate complexity within approved schedules and budgets. 

  • May coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned project.

  • May assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel.

Please note that Autodesk Revit proficiency is essential for being successful in this role.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor of Architecture degree plus 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Architecture

  • 5 years of experience as an Architect or Architectural Designer on a variety of building types

  • Autodesk Revit proficiency

  • Ability to become a licensed architect in the future

  • Experience with Adobe Suite , Autodesk Revit, Enscape, Rhino and SketchUp

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)
