The Circulating RN will assist physicians during surgical procedures, in addition to supervising and directing patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures.

We are a single specialty ASC with flexibility of staffing, NO call, NO holidays and NO regularly scheduled weekends.


We are looking for someone who:

  • Performs thorough assessment of patient by taking temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient; documents nursing history, observes or records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies physician of patient’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments and significant incidents
  • Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by the physician and/or surgery center policy, including patient and family instruction; informs patient about routine care and procedures related to the perioperative experience and explains procedures and treatments to patients to gain cooperation, understanding and allay apprehension
  • Develops a plan of care for the patient based on assessment data and implements admission care (e.g., evaluates chart, administers medication) and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques
  • Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies; assists with inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels in the admission area
  • Aids physician during surgical procedures; confirms that proper techniques and procedures are used according to accepted standards of practice
  • Effectively organizes time, equipment, supplies, and operating room activities; considers staff abilities when delegating activities; maintains order and cleanliness of admission area
  • Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures and protocol; maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient; uses equipment effectively by anticipating patient needs and providing appropriate care 

Requirements

Minimum:

  • Nursing degree from accredited school
  • One (1) year experience as a circulating nurse in Neurosurgery

Certifications and Credentials:

  • RN license (active) in appropriate states
  • CPR certified
  • ACLS certified, preferred
