About the role:

This technical role will be part of a new team being formed to focus on the development and implementation of Design Value Improvement Projects (DVIPs) for key Urology products.  In this highly visible role, the employee will be responsible for working closely with a cross-functional team, including our manufacturing network partners, on the creation of concepts to reduce product cost, and the verification, validation, and implementation of these new designs into production.      

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Support the creation and management of a potential DVIP “portfolio,” including candidate project identification, prioritization, activation, and execution.
  • Develop and successfully implement creative design solutions to reduce product cost in line with defined project cost and schedule targets, following Boston Scientific’s Product Lifecycle Process throughout.
  • Coach and mentor other R&D engineering resources working on the same or similar efforts across Urology.
  • Support the periodic communication of program status updates to leadership, as needed.

 

Required qualifications:

  • Degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, or chemistry is required.
  • Bachelors required; Masters preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in new product development is required.
  • 4+ years of experience working in sustaining engineering or new product development specifically in the medical device industry is required.
  • Experience working in project lifecycle management (PLM) systems such as Windchill or Adaptiv is required.
  • Previous experience working in a mechanical lab setting conducting testing and collecting data is required.    

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous experience demonstrating success working on fast-paced (less than 12 month) design projects within the medical device industry is preferred.
  • Passion for learning about the relevant anatomy and pathologies, understanding clinical use scenarios and solving problems for end users.
  • Proven self-starter who runs towards issues, ambiguous requirements, or loosely defined challenges
  • Skilled problem solver
  • Up to 15% travel required
