What's new with Aptar
We have an exciting position open in Cary, IL – Planning Team Lead. This position will be based in Cary, IL and will be responsible for: supervising the site team of Planner/Schedulers and their activities to provide an elite customer experience with prompt response times, lead times in alignment with market demands, and an on-time delivery schedule.
This is how your journey begins
- Act as a first point of escalation for all site-level activities on a day-to-day basis, and drive resolution of issues that prevent orders from being fulfilled completely and on-time.
- Assist with hiring and training employees. Provide annual performance review for direct employees and hold regular one-one-one meetings to provide coaching and feedback.
- Identify, document and implement best practices.
- Advise management and Master Scheduler of production status issues and escalate problems to ensure labor, tools, equipment, and services are provided as needed.
- Use SAP scheduling applications on a daily basis to schedule production orders based on available plant resources, inventory, equipment and production work schedules, while meeting customer demand. Generate and maintain production orders.
- Schedule work center activities that result in minimum work order rescheduling, high utilization of work center capacities, and level loading
- Work with the production team to ensure the schedule is executed and to identify opportunities to improve output and efficiency while meeting customer needs.
- Engage in daily communication with the purchasing team to confirm parts are being procured to support the production schedule.
- Maintain appropriate levels of inventory to meet customer demands and targeted financial objectives. Identify and address slow moving or obsolete inventory.
- Provide rapid communication to the customer service team for inquiries or status changes related to customer commitments and needs. This includes timely order confirmations, and immediate communication of any delays or shortages.
- Track and report on schedule adherence rates, OTIF, lead times, and order confirmation KPIs.
- Understand production parameters in detail: production orders, resources, alternate resources, calendars, lead times, etc.
- Develop and maintain a high level of material and product knowledge.
- Incorporate the company vision and values into day-to-day activities and behaviors.
- Contribute to and implement systems/process solutions to reduce inventory levels, work order transactions, and improve planning efficiency
- Actively participate in continuous improvement projects and may lead project teams.
- Other duties as assigned, according to the changing needs of the business
- Marginal job functions include: generating monthly and quarterly performance reports, identify/implement system improvement and material cost reduction ideas, support change projects, assist in developing annual material supply and capacity plans, attend/contribute to to required sub-plant and departmental meetings, and act as a back-up to department personnel as determined by management.
What you will bring on the journey
Education:
Minimum of 2 years of college, Bachelor’s degree preferred in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Management, or Operations Management; or equivalent experience as determined by management
