If you enjoy leading skilled crews, solving mechanical challenges, and keeping critical systems running, this may be the role for you. We’re seeking a hands-on supervisor to lead a team of pump technicians responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and replacement of pump systems essential to hatchery operations and fish production.


In this role, you’ll oversee preventative maintenance schedules, analyze pump performance, support large-scale equipment purchases, monitor budgets, and help guide pump refurbishment and installation projects. You’ll also mentor staff, respond to critical operational needs, and work directly with systems that support fish production and facility operations.

What to Expect:

Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Construction & Maintenance Project Supervisor will,


Supervision and Mentoring:

  • Supervise a team of journey-level workers by scheduling, directing, coordinating, and overseeing projects from development through completion.
  • Conduct active inspections of construction and maintenance activities to ensure work is completed according to scope, timeline, and quality expectations; communicate the need for change orders to the Project Manager when issues arise.
  • Provide onsite inspections of pump components, equipment, and fixtures to determine maintenance and repair needs.


Pump Repair and Replacement:

  • Respond to after-hours and weekend emergencies when fish loss is imminent.
  • Lead the assessment, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and replacement of fish hatchery production pumps up to 300 horsepower, including domestic submersible, end suction, centrifugal pumps, valves, manifolds, and flow meters.  
  • Prioritize and schedule preventative maintenance work based on severity of issues, program priorities, and geographic location.
  • Analyze blueprints, records, and engineering notes to develop technical pump specifications, including pump curves, measurements, and material requirements for competitive bidding.
  • Disassemble pumps to the component level, assess wear, and repair or machine replacement parts using lathes and milling machines.
  • Perform routine and emergency diagnostic testing to evaluate pump efficiency, wear, vibration, and operational performance.
  • Measure flow rates and pressures, compare historical performance data, and schedule repairs or replacements as needed.
  • Test and evaluate hatchery pump and water supply systems, including motor balancing and vibration analysis.
  • Identify and recommend long-term improvements and infrastructure needs for hatchery pump systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, schematics, and technical sketches.


Project Management:

  • Independently prepare drawings, sketches, and as-built diagrams to support project implementation and communicate technical instructions to staff.
