The Test Engineering team works across domains on the entire spectrum of products, supporting the development and test of unmanned systems across land, air, and sea domains. Anduril’s Land Systems team is seeking a Test Engineer to support the development of software for land-based robotic systems. The team is responsible for taking manned and unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) robots from paper sketches to operational systems. We work in close coordination with specialist teams like Perception, Autonomy, and Hardware/Manufacturing to solve some of the hardest problems facing our customers. As an Operations Engineer, you will support the efficient and safe development and testing of Anduril’s autonomous ground vehicle products. What you’ll do:

  • Support daily operations of system-level testing of autonomous vehicle(s) at Anduril Test Sites.
  • Resolve system-level issues that occur during testing, collaborate with teams to perform failure analysis and devise solutions.
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks and preventive measures on vehicle platforms, keeping them in optimal operating condition. This may include inspecting and performing repairs on mechanical and electronic components.
  • Oversee compliance with safety programs, regulations, and standard operating procedures in all activities.
  • Train operators on safe autonomous vehicles usage and confirm adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
  • Perform scripted adjustment and calibration of sensors prior to test events and to troubleshoot issues.
  • Generate detailed technical reports on test results, operational issues, performance improvement, and maintenance activities, including data collection / logs.
  • Troubleshoot related to autonomous driving software, hardware, or integration between both.
  • Collaborate with software and hardware development teams to provide feedback for design and performance enhancements based on operation observations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in operation, testing, and maintenance of ground vehicles, specifically semi- or fully- autonomous platforms in defense or commercial industry.
  • Experience in mission or safety-critical product development environments.
  • Experience performing data-driven root cause analysis on complex systems.
  • Electrical design and troubleshooting experience on development vehicles
  • Strong computer and documentation experience.
  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret-Level Security Clearance.
  • Must be willing to travel as needed.
  • Must have a working understanding of basic engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; demonstrated experience applying those concepts; and, expansive knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Engineering degree: Automotive systems BSE, ME, MET, EE,
  • Experience in prototyping vehicle systems.
  • Experience working with the Department of Defense (DoD).
  • Familiarity with Linux based operating systems and basic command line usage.
  • Experience with robot middleware (ex: ROS).
  • Experience with common software development languages, e.g. Python, C++ etc.
US Salary Range$100,000—$192,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in all offers; and are considered part of Anduril’s total compensation package.
