The Production Design Group within Chick-fil-A, Inc. focuses on engineering innovative restaurant system solutions to enable growth for 3,000+ restaurants. The Senior Lead R&D Engineer role within Production Design is tasked with performing advanced research and development on relevant projects and programs centering on food-production equipment, automation, systems, and processes as well as acting as a technology scout, identifying new technologies that could be important to Chick-fil-A in the future. This role is also expected to be an influencer within Chick-fil-A to help direct the organization through innovative concepts and communicate their applications in the context of menu and operational strategies.

Responsibilities
- Create new capabilities for Chick-fil-A restaurants through resolving highly complex technical issues and conducting advanced research on relevant projects
- Investigate new / emerging technologies, innovations and opportunities
- Ideate on concepts to solve current and future challenges
- Filter concepts using multiple factors, including data analysis, operational realities, technical feasibility, and intuition
- Lead & manage external partners through proof of concept prototype development
- Assist in evaluation of prototypes to understand the value and tradeoffs for Chick-fil-A
- Support the transition of successful R&D concepts into the commercialization process
- Collaborate effectively with internal partners working on future focused initiatives
- Provide support and informal technical mentorship to a team of engineers and test technicians
- Candidate will be required to leverage their skills as an individual contributor and in a technical leadership capacity
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years of related work experience
- Proficiency in MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently
- Experience using 3D CAD Software
Preferred Qualifications
- Educational background in Engineering Discipline, Physics, Computer Science, or similar field
- 8+ years of engineering experience
- Experience controlling electromechanical systems using Raspberry PI's or Arduino's
