Job Description

As part of our activities in EAME, we are looking for our

EAME HSE Field Crops Operational Lead – SD & P&S (M/W)

Role purpose

The EAME HSE Field Crops Operational Lead – SD & P&S provides leadership and technical expertise for the operational delivery of all aspects: Occupational Hygiene, Environmental and Safety, Security, Loss Prevention, and Emergency Management services to EAME field crops through the site-based teams.

You lead a team of HSE coordinators across the region and set evaluation priorities, role modelling of Syngenta values with a focus on people development. You provide technical and practical “hands on” support to the HSE Coordinators and you drive the harmonisation of best practice and knowledge sharing across the Seeds community.

The position is offered on a permanent contract, ideally based in our Toulouse Innovation Center, France/Saint Sauveur (31), Nérac (47), Lombez (32), or Chartres (28).

Or also proposed in Germany/ Bad Salzuflen; Spain/Carmona; Italy/Casalmorano; United Kingdom/ Whittlesford; Hungary/ Budapest or Mezotur.

This position requires frequent international business trips (at least once a month, to connect with team, stakeholders, workshop, …).

Start date : as soon as possible.

Accountabilities

  • Support Seeds Development and Production & Supply Head of HSE EAME, and Site HSE Leads with the implementation of the HSE strategy providing technical expertise.
  • Ensure at Regional level that the HSE Coordinators act to deliver activities, procedures, and systems in accordance with the duties, responsibilities and standards for Health, Safety, Environmental protection and Security company standards.
  • Promote through the HSE Coordinator team the development of a continuous improvement HSE culture on sites and support training & tools deployment.
  • Coordinate the timely reporting of HSE data & KPI to Seeds Development and P&S LT’s, plus Global & Regional LT’s as appropriate, develop common visual boards (and other tools) across the sites for reporting of HSE data & KPIs together with Site HSE leads & Coordinators.
  • Improve transparency and KPIs to demonstrate our safety performance in each Seeds EAME site and coordinate regionally.
  • Participate and coordinate auditing of the HSE management systems at sites and their satellites seeking to harmonise standards .
  • Together with the Site HSE Leads, seek to develop coordinators to ensure sustained ability to meet current and future business needs.
  • Develop a common framework for communication within and across sites for the proactive exchange of ideas & knowledge sharing.
  • Network with the BU HSE and regional HSE team to maintain common level of HSE expertise and be the focal point for introduction /changes to HSE Management system.
  • Support programs to review and improve environmental footprint of our sites and ensure implementation of sustainable practices.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills:

  • HSE Qualification (university Diploma)
  • 8 to 10 years’ experience in operating independently and leading teams in a matrix environment. An experience in a Seeds Company will be appreciated.
  • Experience of partnering with Site Teams to deliver projects.
  • Strong HSE experience and practice.
  • Strong leadership competencies including experience leading teams.
  • Professional knowledge of relevant statutory provisions, legislative requirements and corporate HSE standards.
  • Strong communication skills – up, down, sideways.  Networking and influence.
  • Analytical, Decisive, Plan – Do – Review approach
  • Fluent in English & French is mandatory to evolve in our international organisation.
