The Managing Director, Ceded Reinsurance is responsible for setting and executing the enterprise reinsurance strategy, overseeing the structuring, execution, governance, and administration of all ceded and affiliate reinsurance programs. This leader drives strategic partnerships with reinsurers, regulators, and key stakeholders while ensuring reinsurance solutions support growth, profitability, risk management, and long-term enterprise value.
Strategic Reinsurance Leadership
- Develop and execute the enterprise ceded reinsurance strategy, identifying and structuring opportunities that optimize profitability, capital efficiency, and risk management across all lines of business.
- Partner with business leaders to align reinsurance solutions with strategic, financial, and growth objectives while advancing the long-term interests of the enterprise.
Transaction Execution & Governance
- Lead the negotiation, execution, administration, and ongoing governance of reinsurance agreements, ensuring operational effectiveness, compliance, and alignment with enterprise priorities.
- Drive continuous improvement of reinsurance processes, controls, and infrastructure to support efficient execution and oversight.
Reinsurer, Regulatory & Industry Leadership
- Serve as the primary executive relationship manager for reinsurers, regulators, industry associations, and key external stakeholders, strengthening partnerships and protecting the company's strategic interests.
- Monitor and steward reinsurer performance, contractual obligations, and market relationships to support sustainable business outcomes.
Bermuda & Affiliate Reinsurance Oversight
- Provide strategic and governance oversight of affiliate and offshore reinsurance entities, including Bermuda operations, regulatory engagement, board responsibilities, and risk management.
Enterprise Leadership & Ways of Working
- Lead, develop, and retain a high-performing team while driving succession planning, leadership development, and an inclusive culture that unlocks talent and enterprise capability.
- Demonstrate Corebridge's Ways of Working by driving enterprise thinking, collaborating with intent, delivering results, fostering innovation, and making sound decisions in complex and dynamic environments.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years related experience with the ability to deal with complex accounts
- Progressive experience in managing teams and significant reinsurance transactions
- Reinsurance transaction sourcing and structuring expertise
- Proven experience developing and executing multi-year roadmaps
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, inspire, and develop a diverse, matrixed, team of highly accomplished professionals
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree and/or other insurance designations preferred
- Clear and accessible communicator, influencer, and facilitator
- Strong knowledge of the relevant reinsurer marketplace, including alternate solutions
- Maintain market relationships in order to identify and facilitate placement and resolve issues
Compensation
For positions based in New York, NY and Woodland Hills, CA, the base salary range is $350,00-$400,000. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered will ultimately be dependent on multiple factors, which may include the candidate’s geographic location, skills, experience and other qualifications. In addition, the position is eligible for a discretionary bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
