ABOUT THE ROLE

Field Service Trainer reports directly to the Field Service Trainer - Lead.  All candidates must be extremely customer focused, have a passion for educating Technicians, be willing to continuously learn new troubleshooting and diagnostic technologies and have a strong, detailed knowledge of commercial vehicles, preferably transit buses.

GILLIG is seeking a highly motivated, passionate, customer focused professional with strong problem-solving skills and a solid background in technical training of commercial vehicles, especially transit buses.  Field Service Trainers are responsible for providing advanced diagnostics and technical instruction to GILLIG customers, suppliers, and our field service / sales representatives.  They also serve as subject matter experts on any new GILLIG vehicle platforms and technologies.

Qualified candidates will have extensive knowledge of the transit bus and be able to effectively utilize a comprehensive suite of computer software/tools to accurately lead training classes related to vehicle systems and operation.  Field Service Trainers have the goal of effectively instructing customers on correct maintenance and repair processes to maximize fleet uptime. They are trusted to train internal and external customers on detailed information necessary to resolve complicated issues, properly maintain GILLIG buses and develop content to support training classes.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL

  • Travel to customers' location throughout the US to educate customers on correct maintenance and repair processes to maximize fleet uptime
  • Develop and maintain training material, lesson plans and student handouts required to support training curriculum
  • Well-versed in all aspects of Technical Training, including development, delivery and administrative functions required to support training department
  • Serve as the company representative with customers on administrative and technical training matters for assigned projects
  • Be the initial subject matter expert on training process for new GILLIG vehicle platforms and technologies
  • Prepare reports for management including compilations of customer training, trend analyses and improved training delivery methods requested by customers
  • Document repair and diagnostics bulletins for publication to broader field support network and/or customers
  • Lower warranty expenses by focusing training content to reduce Mean Time to Repair resulting in improved uptime for customer vehicles
  • Develop innovative approaches, technology, and processes to improve training on Mean Time to Repair and Mean Time between Failure.
  • Possess experience in theory of operation for Electrical (Multiplex), Schedule Maintenance, Air Brake Systems, Hydraulics / Steering, Suspensions, Doors and HV Battery propulsion systems
  • Provide driver and mechanical orientation and support Sales Demonstrations at conquest customer locations
  • Diagnose electrical and/or mechanical issues and repair as needed

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related Engineering field or the equivalent technical experience
  • Results driven individual with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the Commercial Vehicle Industry, preferably transit buses
  • Extensive knowledge of the GILLIG bus both mechanically and electrically
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and electrical schematics
  • Strategic mindset with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to use Telematics and/or a comprehensive suite of computer software/tools to accurately diagnose vehicle issues 
  • Comprehensive computer skills and working knowledge of Salesforce is ideal
  • Strong experience in problem solving techniques and documentation of corrective action p
