Cooley Dickinson Medical Group (CDMG) General Surgical Care and Bariatrics & Weight Management Program office is a community-based practice located in our outpatient office at 15 Atwood Drive, Northampton, MA.

Beyond the strictly medical, we consider the many social, emotional, and practical factors involved with any surgical option. Once we’ve worked with the patient and their family to determine the most effective course of action, we provide reliable, steadfast support through every step that follows. In this practice, we offer surgical treatment and services in a comprehensive range of specialties, including surgical oncology, abdominal, bariatric, breast, colorectal, dermatological, and pediatric surgeries.
Job Summary
We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant II to support our General Surgical Care and Bariatrics & Weight Management practice onsite, Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 4:30PM.As true partners to our providers, our Medical Assistants get the opportunity to work autonomously to the top of their education/certification while also functioning as part of the collaborative team.
Responsibilities include:
• Ensuring efficient patient flow through the office
• Preparing patient charts
• Assisting during office visits (rooming, examinations, procedures, and treatments as directed)
• Assisting during minor surgeries and procedures
• Performing clinically appropriate tasks related patient panel management (phone calls, test results, prescription refill, coordination of care, etc.)
• Maintaining neat, clean, and safe patient care areas
• Interacting with patients and their families in a professional, friendly manner consistent with their needs.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred

Licenses and Credentials
Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred
Experience
Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for success in this position.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in complex and busy environments.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations.
- Ability to take vital signs and manual blood pressure, as well as collect blood samples and other specimens.
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software.
- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Managing one's own time and the time of others.
