Job Overview

Under the direction of the Head Athletics Trainer, the Assistant Athletics Trainer provides student-athletes with initial injury and illness evaluations, referrals, follow-up evaluations, wound care, injury treatment, emergency cardiac care with AED and other emergency care, injury rehabilitation, taping and bracing, and over the counter medicines.  Maintains accurate, complete, and timely documentation of medical records and injury documentation for each student-athlete treated.  Responsible for adhering to the Sports Medicine Policies and Procedures and the NATA Code of Professional Conduct.  Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

This position reports directly to Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Health and Wellness and works closely with the team doctors.

This position has been designated as On-Campus. Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Current NATABOC certification required
  • Must meet criteria for certification as established by the NATA with respect to CEU’s
  • Eligible for District of Columbia Athletic Training Licensure
  • Must be able to work confidently in a crisis or emergency situation and demonstrate knowledge of safety practices.
  • Knowledge of University and Department philosophies, policies and regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of NCAA regulations.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that demonstrate an ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record; must be insurable.
  • Proficient in computer use and relevant Microsoft applications.
  • Available weekends and evenings.
  • Background check completed as a condition of employment with Georgetown University.

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$41,926.00 - $65,090.00

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
