Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Director, Upward Bound Lake County Programs, with additional lead work direction from the department Directors and administrative staff, the Lake County Upward Bound Programs Administrative Coordinator works independently and in collaboration with multiple directors and staff to oversee administrative and clerical operations of the Lake County Programs. The incumbent provides leadership in administration of and improvements to operational policies and procedures, especially relating to program events, academic and outreach services, and coordination with other campus offices and staff. The incumbent initiates, coordinates, and implements a variety of administrative and fiscal duties in support of Lake County Programs; provides lead work direction, training, and guidance to other support staff; and provides back up to other staff in the department as needed. Work assignments require professional interaction at the highest levels within and outside the university.

Duties take place mostly in an office setting and off site at target high schools throughout Mendocino, Lake and Sonoma Counties.

Key Qualifications

This position requires a high school degree or technical/vocational program and a minimum of three years administrative work experience involving program administration and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development of improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs. The incumbent must have a thorough knowledge of standard office systems and the ability to use a broad range of standard office technology to support duties of the position. Bachelor’s degree highly preferred. Must demonstrate sensitivity to the needs and characteristics of low-income and potential first-generation college students. Familiarity with the purpose and administrative operations of TRIO Programs highly preferred. Intermediate proficiency with computers, Google Applications, and Microsoft Office required. Knowledge of PeopleSoft preferred. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

SALARY AND BENEFITS 

Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and will not exceed $4,058 month. This is a full time, non-exempt, fixed-term, position. Reappointment to this position is dependent upon the individual's performance as well as administrative and budgetary considerations.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year. Sonoma State University is also a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) Employer (comprehensive benefits summary PDF).
