Job Summary

The Senior Associate Athletic Director – Revenue Sharing & NIL is a senior leader within BYU Athletics, reporting directly to the Athletic Director and serving on the department’s executive leadership team. This individual will lead and coordinate BYU’s strategic approach to revenue-sharing models and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities for student-athletes, ensuring alignment with the mission of the university and the values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This role requires expertise in NCAA compliance, financial modeling, external relations, and student-athlete development.

The Senior Associate AD will serve as a primary liaison to university leadership, legal counsel, external collectives, donors, and corporate partners. The position will also collaborate across internal units—including compliance, communications, development, and student-athlete experience—to design and manage systems that support fair, mission-aligned, and future-ready models of athlete compensation and NIL engagement.

What You’d Be Responsible For

Strategic Leadership

  • Serve as the department’s lead strategist on revenue-sharing models and NIL-related initiatives
  • Advise the Athletic Director and senior leadership team on emerging policies and models related to athlete compensation
  • Collaborate with university leadership and legal counsel to ensure all revenue-sharing and NIL practices align with institutional, NCAA, Big 12, and state regulations
  • Monitor national trends, legislation, and court rulings related to NIL and athlete revenue and proactively adapt BYU’s strategies

Revenue Sharing Implementation

  • Design and oversee any institutional processes related to potential athlete revenue-sharing frameworks, should they be permitted or required by law or NCAA policy
  • Develop systems to track, manage, and report revenue-sharing data to university leadership and external stakeholders as appropriate
  • Build and maintain sustainable, transparent mechanisms for revenue allocation and accountability

NIL Oversight & Education

  • Provide oversight and direction to BYU’s NIL programming and partnerships, ensuring student-athletes are educated, supported, and compliant
  • Liaise with third-party NIL collectives and platforms to establish aligned goals and clear communication channels
  • Develop programming to support student-athletes in personal brand development, financial literacy, contract education, and long-term planning
  • Collaborate with Athletics Communications and the Built4Life team on marketing and visibility efforts tied to NIL

External Relations & Development

  • Serve as a primary liaison to corporate sponsors, collectives, and donors interested in supporting NIL initiatives or future revenue-sharing efforts
  • Work with BYU’s Cougar Club and Corporate Sponsorship teams to align donor intent with university policy and athlete benefit structures
