About the role

SUMMARY  

Mortenson is currently seeking a Senior Safety Engineer I that will be responsible for implementing Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project sites and ensuring a safe work environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors to the construction work site. 

 

  • VISA sponsorships are Not offered for this position.

  • This is not an entry level safety position and requires a minimum of 4 years construction experience.

  • MUST have either a 4 year degree is health or safety OR must have all 3 of the following: 1. HS Diploma 2. OSHA30 certifications AND 3. CHST certification from the BCSP.  Other safety certifications from other organization DO NOT meet requirement. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Implement and administer safety programs at worksites, including site-specific safety activities and training programs 

  • Document and track safety violations, conduct safety audits, and analyze loss control data 

  • Lead OSHA reporting, monitor subcontractor activities, and review safety submittals 

  • Record, monitor, and analyze safety, injury, and hazard statistics 

  • Provide safety-related information, evaluate industrial hygiene concerns, and maintain knowledge of safety standards 

  • Serve as a resource for safety issues, attend safety meetings, and assist with major incident analysis 

  • Work with client safety personnel, union representatives, and insurance risk engineers 

  • Ensure maintenance and inspection of safety equipment and build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, or equivalent;  

OR 

  • High school diploma with CHST Certification, OSHA 500, and a minimum of 10 years construction experience leading crews and planning work, to include at least six years as a dedicated construction safety professional responsible for managing project safety programs, conducting / reviewing hazard analyses and developing controls, conducting safety training, and planning work activities or equivalent experience in a relevant field 

  • Minimum of four years of construction safety experience 

  • Current valid driver’s license 

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant safety software programs 

  • Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills 

  • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies effectively 

  • Willingness to travel up to 100%

**The base pay range for this role is $89,500 - $120,800. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Por
