MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our team in San Diego, CA. This is an onsite position.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conducting detailed site surveys and field validations of watercraft and equipment to assess network environments and document current configurations

  • Performing required communication equipment integration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of shipboard electronic and mechanical equipment

  • Working alongside engineers to design, build, and test solutions to a variety of technical problems related to Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) technologies

  • Documenting installation procedures and updating technical manuals, including drawing deviations and engineering change proposals

  • Collaborating with management, internal teams, and government stakeholders to navigate the technical review and approval process for all system installs

  • Recommending and implementing process and policy improvements to enhance system throughput, operability, and total ownership cost

  • Travel is up to 25%; most likely travel locations are Port Hueneme, CA and Norfolk, VA but could also include travel underway on a ship for testing and training

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s level degree in engineering discipline

  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical engineering projects or services

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with UNREP or other Navy machinery

  • Experience in industrial marine environment can be substituted for Navy experience

  • Familiarity with Shipyard and NAVSEA installation requirements and supporting documentation

  • Proficiency with reading and interpreting ship schematics, wiring lists, and technical manuals

  • Experience working with Control Systems and/or Variable Frequency Drives

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, Solidworks, and AutoCAD

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance.
