Pay Range
$120,804 - $221,064 Annually for the SEL.3 level

Job Description
We have an opening for a Deputy Associate Program Leader (DAPL) in Chemical Operations. You will support the Associate Program Leader in managing Analytical Chemistry, Aqueous Chemistry, and Pyrochemistry operations for the Nuclear Materials Program. This role involves project and personnel management, including work package prioritization, project scheduling and tracking, reporting, task delegation, individual goal setting, and providing performance feedback. This position is in the Materials Science Division within the Physical & Life Sciences Directorate.
This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.
You will
- Ensure programmatic objectives are achieved and are in full compliance with the ES&H Manual, the facility Design Safety Analysis (DSA) and Facility Safety Plan (FSP), and applicable Work Control Documents (WCDs).
- Provide technical direction to the development of equipment and processes for complex and unique technical issues and exercise a high level of independent judgment and initiative in the development and deployment of innovative technologies.
- Communicate project priorities, plan schedules, assess resource requirements, and oversee project development and maturity.
- Use project management methods and tools to develop analytics and reporting criteria to ensure successful programmatic project execution.
- Oversee the procurement, installation, and deployment of new capabilities.
- Ensure efficient and effective onboarding and training of new employees.
- With the APL, work with individuals on the team to set performance goals and ensure the necessary resources are provided for those goals to be met.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top-Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency with SCI at the time of hire.
- B.S. degree in Chemistry, Forensics, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- In-depth knowledge of at least one of these fields: analytical chemistry, aqueous chemistry, pyrochemistry.
- Advanced knowledge of the nuclear materials process flowsheet.
- Knowledge of Fissile Material Handling and Nuclear Material Control & Accountability Principles.
- Experience managing a small team performing laboratory work (2-5 individuals).
- Expert communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills necessary to present, explain, and advise senior management.
- Ability to travel.
