The hours and location you’ll work in as a Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic with WM:
- Monday – Friday every week
- Shift starting at 7 AM
- Possible weekends (Saturday) and OT
- We’re committed to offering you stable hours for the financial security and work life balance you need.
- The normal setting for this job is a repair / maintenance shop at our Hampton VA site.
- Advanced Technical Training Required in Arizona for 2 weeks upon hire.

Each day you’ll fix the trucks and equipment that service over 20 million customers across the USA. As a Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you can take pride in watching a truck roll out of the shop, knowing your local community will be supported by your hard work. Our mechanics take their careers to the next level by working on equipment that requires a high level of skill – and determination. You’ll be using modern tools and procedures to deliver exceptional maintenance on both diesel equipment and, at some locations, on our growing fleet of CNG trucks.
Here’s more of what you’ll do:
- Repairs as needed equipment (including, but not limited to, bulldozers, scrapers, backhoes, front end loaders, yard trucks, farm tractors, forklifts, and company cars).
- Diagnoses and repairs differentials, hydraulic systems, motors, transmissions, drives, air conditioning systems, and electrical systems.
- Performs tasks per preventative maintenance checklist.
- Completes records such as work orders, card files, P.M. checklists, and oil samples.
- Services and maintains other equipment such as light plants, water pump, welders, and other equipment.
- Reference site-specific procedures and more detailed site-specific job descriptions.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
What do you need to be considered for the role of Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic?
- 5 years of relevant work experience 5 years or more experience repairing industrial equipment like balers, conveyers Experience with: Compactors
- A valid drivers' license, with a clean driving record
- Be over 18 years of age.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.
