The opportunity
EY’s IRS Account and Interest Group seeks a tax professional with IRS experience to assist the practice with providing clients with a comprehensive set of service offerings around IRS account management and resolution.
Skills and attributes for success
- Experience with resolving IRS account and interest issues
- The ability to research, analyze and determine complex interest calculations to include net rate interest netting, and other complex interest situations.
- Strong research skills with the ability to determine computation errors, analyze interest from multiple tax years with multiple adjustment issues to complete and validate complex interest calculations
To qualify for the role you must have
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other related business major or equivalent experience/IRS Experience
- A minimum of six years of related work experience
- A CPA certification or Enrolled Agent Status or qualification to become one
- Understanding of IRS’s Integrated Data Retrieval System (IDRS) including:
- Familiarity with Document 6209 - ADP and IDRS Information
- Ability to read internal IRS transcripts (i.e. TXMODs, ENMODs, etc.)
- Experience working at the IRS in position comparable to any of the following:
- Campus/Service Center
- Call Center
- District Office
- Taxpayer Advocate Service
- Examination
- Collection
- Willingness to travel as needed, and working in a balanced hybrid environment
Ideally, you'll also have
- Strong communication skills
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- The ability to adapt your work style to work with both internal and client team members

What we offer We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $68200 to $125000. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $81800 to $142000. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
