About the role

Summary

The Business Analytics Advisor will be responsible for supporting the analytics strategy for Medicare Health Services, performing reporting and analysis within the Clinical & Affordability Analytics team. Reporting to the Manager of Care Management Analytics, the analytics advisor will analyze healthcare claims and clinical outcomes associated with various care management initiatives, and draw insights based on relevant findings. The Clinical & Affordability Analytics team seeks to provide operational and analytical support to our partners to improve customer care and affordability for Cigna Medicare. This role will help us accomplish this through advanced analytics, strategic insights from reporting and dashboards, and collaboration with our internal partners.

The Business Analytics Advisor will interface across multiple business areas, partnering with clinical leadership, care management operations, vendor clinical programs, and other departments as needed. The ideal candidate for this role will be highly motivated and embrace change, as well as develop insightful reporting and analytic models to describe, evaluate, and interpret clinical metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Extract and analyze large healthcare claims using Toad, SQL, SAS, Teradata, etc.

  • Use Tableau or other visualization tools to display advanced, interactive dashboards and reporting that will be used to drive clinical strategy

  • Utilize statistical and data extraction tools to perform statistical tests and studies

  • Identify, analyze and interpret trends or patterns in data sets through descriptive and multivariate statistics

  • Develop actionable insights from reporting and analytics to present to non-technical business partners and stakeholders to drive the decision-making process

  • Collaborate with matrix partners to understand project developments, assess impacts to data and analytics

  • Develop methods for improving internal techniques and processes with expertise in creating highly effective, visual graphics that tell complex stories in formats that can be easily conveyed to leadership and executive clients.    

  • Work collaboratively and partner with departments across the organization to ensure deliverables are accomplished

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ of healthcare-related data/analytics experience solving business problems through the application of analytic approaches

  • Experience with diverse healthcare data preferred, including claims, EHR, demographic, exercise, pharmacy, lab, biometrics, genomic and text

  • Experience with data extraction tools and languages; Python is preferred

  • Experience with Tableau or similar visualization software required

  • Statistics experience such as significance testing, coarsened exact matching, multivariate regression, etc. required

  • Comprehension of healthcare data (e.g., ICD-10, claims, utilization, provider information) and demonstrated understanding of health care and delivery system processes

  • Leadership competencies including the ability to collaborate with others and establish working relationships, communicate effectively across the organization and at different levels, think and act strategically, and influence key leaders

  • Strong customer focus and management of stakeholder expectations


If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 95,200 - 158,600 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
