Description

The Business Development Banker plays a pivotal role in driving business growth, fostering community relations, and delivering exceptional banking services to customers. This multifaceted position requires a blend of sales acumen, customer service excellence, and community engagement skills. The ideal candidate will be adept at building relationships, promoting bank products, and enhancing the bank's presence within the community. Additionally, this role will support commercial lending activities and small business development in Lamar, Colorado, and will receive training in retail branch operations to serve as a backup to retail staff as needed.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

  1. Identify and cultivate new business relationships through networking and prospecting.
  2.  Manage and deepen existing client relationships by understanding their financial needs and offering tailored banking solutions.
  3.  Promote a wide range of banking products and services including loans, credit, treasury management, and deposit products
  4.  Provide superior customer service by assisting clients with their banking transactions, inquiries, and account maintenance.
  5.  Process deposits, withdrawals, transfers, payments, and other transactions accurately and efficiently.
  6.  Ensure compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements during all transactions.
  7. Meet sales goals by actively promoting bank products and services to both individuals and businesses, both existing clients and new client acquisitions.
  8. Assist commercial lender in managing a loan portfolio during origination and renewal processes.
  9.  Support deposits account services and conduct basic financial analysis.
  10.   Support the lending team in developing credit proposals and presentations for review and approval by the credit committee.
  11.  Monitor and manage the quality of the portfolio, ensuring adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  12.  Engage in small business development activities within the Wiley and Lamar, Colorado communities. 
  13. Provide guidance and support to small businesses regarding banking products and services.
  14. 14. Foster relationships with local businesses and community organizations to enhance the bank's visibility and reputation.
  15. 15. Receive training in retail branch operations to serve as backup to retail staff when needed
  16. 16. This role requires a proactive and versatile professional who can effectively balance client relationship management, sales initiatives, financial analysis, and community engagement to drive business growth and contribute to the bank’s overall success.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Associate’s Degree or Equivalent Work Experience

Work Experience: 1+ years of experience in banking experience or sufficient relevant experience

Supervisory Experience: N/A

Licenses/Accreditations: None required

Computer Skills: Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems

Other Requirements: Strong knowledge of and experience in C&I, banking loans, deposits, lending techniques and practices. Knowledge of compliance with federal and state regulations pertaining to commercial banking. Strong knowledge of banking products and services. Excellent communication, interpersonal, consultative sales, and presentation skills. Business development, relationship management, and lead generation skills. Ability to effectively communicate and make effective presentations to prospective customers and company principals, existing customers, banking officials, and community leaders. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, diverse, and growth-oriented environment. Occasional travel may be required for meetings/trainings. Must be able to use fingers, hands, and wrists for repetitive tasks such as typing, using a mouse, handling paper, and operating a telephone.  

Preferred Skills/Experience: Experience as a Credit Analyst/Underwriter/Portfolio Manager. Critical thinking and problem solving. Strong attention to detail and accuracy; professional and courteous communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate between key internal business partners.


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Customer Service: Strong emphasis on excellent customer service skills; ability to work effectively with both internal and external contacts. Maintains confidentiality in handling customer and bank information.

Financial: Proficient knowledge of commercial banking, economics, accounting, and finance
