Description

Verily’s internship is a paid 13 week program for rising seniors, either undergraduate or graduate students, who are interested in working at the intersection of technology, data science and healthcare. The program is designed for all students, and again this year we encourage students who have been historically underrepresented in this field to explore the program, which is a pathway towards full-time employment within Verily. This includes but is not limited to: Black/African-American, Latinx/Hispanic, Native American, students with disabilities, veterans, and non-binary people.

The Verily Cloud Infrastructure engineering team is responsible for building the infrastructure necessary for end-to-end software development lifecycle and managing the production environments for Verily Research engineering teams. As a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer at Verily, you will help develop the infrastructure that enables Verily engineering teams to deliver impactful products and services. Our vision is to create world-class infrastructure to boost the productivity of Verily Research engineering teams and maintain on-time deliverability of Verily products. As a part of this team, you will work with engineers who have successfully delivered CI/CD pipelines and cloud environments for engineering teams.

**Join us for a unique 13 week internship that will take place May 13th to August 9th 2024 OR June 17th to September 13th 2024**

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with CloudOps/Infrastructure engineering team to develop, test, and deploy infrastructure on GCP. 
• Develop and support cloud environments and infrastructure using infrastructure as code (IaC).
• Encourage and document engineering excellence within CloudOps/Infrastructure team and for Verily engineering teams.
• Automation champion of repeatable tasks to create workflow efficiencies.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Pursuing a BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field or equivalent practical experience in software engineering.
• 0-2 years experience of deploying infrastructure with CloudOps technologies: Docker/Containers, Kubernetes, Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or other cloud providers, Terraform.
• Strong communications skills and ability to adapt in a fast paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:  

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) deployments and/or Kubernetes.
• Experience with  Terraform, Cloud Foundation Toolkit (CFT), and/or YAML.
• Knowledge of BASH or related scripting languages and Go, Java, or similar general-purpose backend services programming languages.
• Passionate about creating and building an excellent development environment/experience.

The US base salary range for this internship position is $90,000- $116,000 + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
