Sunday -Thursday 1130pm- 730 am with weekend rotation

Performs analytical testing and blood bank procedures according to established and approved protocols, which require a broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility in all areas of the lab and blood bank with minimal technical supervision; maintains equipment and records; performs and monitors quality assurance activities related to test performance.  Meets CLIA requirements for General Supervisor and provides on site supervision in the absence of the supervisor or manager.

Adherence to Corporate Compliance Guidelines

Observes all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Observes all Mercy Health System and applicable subsidiary policies and procedures including the Code of Conduct. Observes Mercy Health System Corporate Compliance policy by reporting any concerns about compliance or business practices to his or her immediate supervisor, appropriate management and/or the Corporate Compliance Officer.  Participates in compliance related education. Where applicable, participates in development and implementation of compliance work plan applicable to specific area of responsibility. Where applicable, promotes and adheres to the relevant elements of the Mercy Health System compliance program. Where applicable, instructs department colleagues regarding compliance and maintains policies and procedures reasonably necessary to provide for compliance with the applicable laws and regulations.

Demonstrates knowledge and compliance with the Hospital Safety and Infection Control policies as required by OSHA and the Patient Safety Program.

Consistently demonstrates knowledge of universal precautions, isolation procedures, and other infection control measures. Provides a safe environment for all patients, employees, and visitors. Identifies safety problems encountered during the course of work that if corrected may result in the prevention of

accident/injury to patients, employees and visitors and reports problems to appropriate supervisor or the Patient Safety Hotline 610-237-7377.

Applies necessary measures to improve patient safety and promote risk reduction for patients by:

  • Medical  / healthcare error reporting.
  • Aware of sentinel events definition and reporting procedure.
  • Interdisciplinary collaborative team approach to patient care planning.
  • Correctly Identifies patient using proper patient identifiers.

Department –Specific Patient Safety:

  • Completes annual patient safety fair training
  • Ensures specimens are labeled correctly
  • Attends mandatory in-service education programs as required. 
  • Completes all mandatory competencies as required.
  •   Seeks opportunities to prevent accidents/injuries to self and others.
  •   Adheres to hospital PPD policy.  
  • Displays/wears Hospital issued Photo Identification Badge at all times.
