Position Overview
The Construction Project Engineer will schedule, plan, forecast, resource, and manage all the technical activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from commencement to completion.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties & Functions)
- Review plans and other technical documents.
- Answer questions regarding the scope and/or timing of the project.
- Monitor costs and project progress.
- Maintain/update project records and documentation.
- Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans and conferring with management.
- Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, assigning personnel to phases and elements, and reviewing bids from contractors.
- Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards.
- Completes technical studies and prepares cost estimates.
- Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements.
- Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
- Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan, scheduling changes, and recommending actions.
- Controls project costs by approving expenditures and administering contractor contracts.
- Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Maintains project data base.
- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Various other duties as assigned.
Skills & Specifications
- Strong communication skills
- Computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point) and other applicable software programs
- Demonstrate flexibility and is adaptable to change
- General knowledge of office protocol, routines, and procedures.
- Ability to read and comprehend plans and specifications
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Self-motivated and proactive.
- Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures.
- Must be willing travel and work away from home when required.
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and overtime when necessary.
Education/Professional Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education; and five years related experience and/or training; or Bachelor's in Construction Mgmt., Engineering or Business degree with 1 year industry experience.
- 5+ years of project experience working in the construction industry preferred.
