About the role

Are you passionate about artificial intelligence and eager to apply your skills in a real-world consulting environment? ICF is seeking a motivated undergraduate student to join our team as an AI Intern. In this role, you will collaborate with experienced professionals to develop innovative solutions using AI coding assistants, contribute to software development projects, and apply data and systems thinking to solve complex challenges. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience, expand your technical toolkit, and make a meaningful impact on projects that matter.

This is an entry-level, on-call role that will begin by mid-September. Hours may vary depending on volume of work, incumbent availability, and other factors. Pay is expected to be $23 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, prototype, and implement AI-driven solutions.

  • Utilize AI coding assistants (such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT) to accelerate software development and problem-solving.

  • Assist in the development, testing, and deployment of software applications and data pipelines.

  • Analyze datasets to extract insights and support data-driven decision-making.

  • Document code, workflows, and findings clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas to project discussions.

  • Stay current with emerging AI tools, technologies, and best practices.

Basic Requirements

  • By start date, a minimum of 50 completed college-level credit hours required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A major in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field

  • Demonstrated interest and early experience in using AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) for software development tasks.

  • Familiarity with at least one programming language (such as Python, Java, or JavaScript).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an interest in data and systems thinking.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).

  • Exposure to cloud platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).

  • Coursework or project experience in machine learning, data analysis, or software engineering.

  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.

  • Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and applying them to real-world challenges.
