About the role

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the security of the company property, patrons, officers and team members during assigned shift. Provides operational and administrative control over assigned shift activity. Responsible and accountable for all Security Division policies, directives and procedures and all Indiana Gaming Commission and Indiana Horse Racing Commission policies and procedures.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Insure that all applicable policies, directives. procedures, internal controls of the Company and/or governing agencies are firmly, fairly and consistently enforced. 
  • Safeguard the Company property, patrons and team members. 
  • Perform escort duties as required. 
  • Conduct internal investigations when needed and cooperate with Company management concerning any internal investigations. 
  • Coordinate the scheduling of all officers assigned to specific shifts or events. 
  • Assist and train all officers on the shift when needed. 
  • Maintain excellent patron, supervisor, officer, team member relationships and working relationships with all divisions in the Company. 
  • Provide cooperation with external city, state or federal agencies when applicable and/or required.
  • Document all issues and/or incidents involving Company property, patrons, officers, supervisors or team members. 
  • Ensure that all required documents, statements, reports, logs and any other related paperwork is properly completed prior to the end of the shift. 
  • Maintain competent performance in any and all required duties and responsibilities. 
  • Complete fairly and accurately, all performance evaluations on officers when required and on time. 
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times concerning issues with patrons and/or Company operations
  • Other duties as assigned

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

This job will assist the Shift Manager, Director and/or Assistant Director of Security in providing overall coordination and supervision of the Security Officers in the absence of superiors.  All disciplinary issues that are brought to the attention of the Shift Supervisor will be promptly documented, and the disciplinary investigation of the issues will be assigned to the supervisory staff by either the Director or Assistant Director of the Security Division. 

 

EDUCATIONS and/or EXPERIENCE:

Certification in the fields of public safety, security or personnel management from a technical school, college or university; or a minimum of five or more years of supervisory experience in the fields of public safety, security or personnel management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

SOCIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
