Overview
Are you a recent college graduate? Our Accelerated Leadership Track (ALT) Program was designed specifically with you in mind. We actively recruit college graduates who have little or no banking experience to ensure they are exposed to many aspects of community business banking through an interactive, rotational training experience suited to their skills and career interests. At Five Star Bank, we believe in investing in our future leaders today. By going through this program successfully, you will be set up for success in your first official role with us.
Program Details
ALT participants will have the opportunity to work directly with a variety of teams across the company. Each rotation is structured to provide traditional education, hands-on learning and strategic insight into the growth opportunities for our business, as well as, for our participants.
The rotations overview listed below are not necessarily the order in which the participant shall work. Rotations may be altered or extended, based on the business needs of the bank, or the learning opportunities for the participant.
Rotations are hands-on, in-field training (deep dives) into our operations, relationship management and loan servicing divisions. Participants will develop an understanding of the “real life” of the business by shadowing people who perform the job, from all levels. Rotations will include time with each of the divisions, with goals and outcomes in each focus area. You’ll work on an innovation process improvement project and present to Key Executives at the end of your ALT program. Upon successful completion, you will take on an entry-level management position in any function depending on your profile, interest and results. You will also receive a mentor from the executive team when you start in your first position.
Introduction
Induction training on the company’s culture, strategy and structure. In this phase, you will get exposure to our CEO, COO, and meet key executives. You’ll also attend an online course on Basics of Banking.
Operations
Participants will learn the basics of branch banking and relationship banking during this rotation. Our operational division touches each area of the business and is the foundation of our internal and compliance controls.
This rotation will focus on the basics of branch banking with the following goals and outcomes:
- Learn and understand the basics of being a bank: Bank vs. Credit Union, FDIC vs NCUA and Community Bank vs Big Bank.
- Branch banking controls, including bank terminology, cash controls, authority limits and how items clear.
- Training of security protocols and mitigating fraud with our Fraud 101 program.
- Understand and be able to identify regulations and their order of importance.
Relationship Banking
Learn the business, where it begins – with our customers. Relationship Management creates partnerships with businesses to help grow the communities we serve.
During this rotation, you’ll better understand the client experience You’ll also learn how to listen to client needs, assess opportunities and evaluate growth potential for our clients.
The goals and outcomes of this rotation are:
- Utilize our full portfolio of bank products, including opening new accounts and maintenance, E-Banking products and forms.
- Differentiate between ownership basics, formation documents, and manage requirements for CIP, phone and/or faxed transactions.
- Training and mastery of our tools, including 20/20, 4sight
- Be able to quote rates, using terminology, and identifying and understanding different types.
During your Operations rotation, you’ll work with the SVP Director of Operations to determine a process improvement project with clear deliverables. You’ll receive feedback and present your final project at the end of your training program.
