Registered Nurse (Grade 2) – Newborn Intensive Care

About the Role

These permanent positions are available Full Time or Part Time within the Newborn Intensive Care Unit – Butterfly Ward. We are looking for Registered Nurses with neonatal nursing knowledge and skills to support our Newborn Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH). 

You will be responsible for working as an expert clinical practitioner, providing high quality nursing care to infants and their families. You will work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to facilitate continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence-based practice.

As a Registered Nurse in NICU you will ensure that clinical practice and delivery of care is consistent with RCH and Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council standards, by providing comprehensive, safe, evidence-based practice to facilitate optimal health outcomes.

Classification for this position will range from YP4 – YP9 (Grade 2 Year 3 to Grade 2 Year 8) (FTE base salary $86,684 to $104,379.6 per annum, plus superannuation)

 

What you’ll achieve:

  • Use critical thinking and analysis to plan, evaluate and implement nursing care and undertake interventions that result in positive healthcare outcomes for the patient and their families.
  • Collaborate and consult with the nursing team and other multidisciplinary tram members to achieve desired health outcomes for patients and their families.
  • Promote patient and family education and involvement in decision-making related to their healthcare.

 

Your skills and experience

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Professional Practice Portfolio (PPP)
  • Recent experience working within a neonatal setting (preferred)
  • Recent paediatric or adult critical care nursing experience (if no neonatal experience)
  • Holds Post Graduate Certificate in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (desirable)
