This is a grant-funded position and reassignment will be based upon performance, progress toward research goals and continuation of funding. Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.

Purpose

This Social Science/Humanities Research Associate III will support the coordination and data collection of the Mapping the Interactions of Language and Early motor Skills (MILES) in Down Syndrome Study. There will be research training opportunities within other research projects conducted at the Texas Center for Disability Studies (TCDS). This includes working with children with autism and other developmental disabilities, caregivers, and family members.  

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and collect data for the Mapping the Interactions of Language and Early motor Skills (MILES) research study. Participate in Mapping the Interactions of Language and Early motor Skills (MILES) team meetings.
  • Support other research studies conducted at the Texas Center for Disability Studies (TCDS) and affiliated projects. 
  • Participate in the Autism Consortium of Texas Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (ACT LEND) program.
  • Support educational and scientific training to expand research skills.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in neuroscience, psychology, social work, education or other health-related field with at least 4 years of related experience. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish (both written and verbal) and to coordinate with investigators, staff, and partnering organizations. Experience with handling sensitive and confidential information. Proficient in document and project/data management software, including Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook), REDCap, etc. Familiarity with autism or other developmental disabilities. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in neuroscience, psychology, social work, education or other health-related field, with at least 2 years of related experience. Prior experience providing therapeutic services to children with autism and developmental disabilities.

Salary Range

$40,000-$45,000 - depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

  • May work around standard office conditions

  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation

Work Shift

  • M-F, Flexible between 8am-6pm
