Job Description

Positions available at NBCUniversal Media, LLC (10 Universal City Plaza, Universal City, CA 91608) for Senior Director, Data Engineering with the following job duties:

  • Assist with hiring, managing, and leading a team of Data Engineers and Business Intelligence (BI) analysts to develop a culture of ownership and delivery in order to define the business’s overall data architecture, and outline a vision for future Data Engineering initiatives.
  • Lead the build-out and optimization of a cloud-based Data Lake, Data Warehouse, and File System.
  • Work closely with on-site and off-shore teams to build out ETLs to support BI initiatives.
  • Provide technical support and guidance for key architectural decisions including real-time processing, distributed computing, and containerized solutions.
  • Lead the build-out of standardized reporting for multiple groups within the organization.
  • Create requirements for new data sources and ETLs for new reports.
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance to ensure business definitions are accurate.
  • Partner effectively with stakeholder teams.
  • Take ownership of priorities in order to ensure that the team delivers results on time.
  • Develop a deep understanding of KPI’s that affect each group.
  • Provide entrepreneurial guidance based on findings.
  • Create, define, and document processes and analyses.
  • Help drive data governance initiatives within the organization.
  • Remote work is permitted.

Qualifications

*Basic Requirements:

  • Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field, and at least 5 years of experience in the job offered or at least 5 years of experience in Data Engineering or Business Intelligence.
  • Stated experience must include at least 5 years of experience in the following: Managing teams of data professionals; Experience with analyzing large datasets and building models using SQL, R, or Python; Working on AWS eco-system and services such as S3, EC2, EMR, Glue, Redshift, or Snowflake Datawarehouse; Distributed processing frameworks such as Spark or Hadoop; Business Intelligence platforms such as Domo, Tableau, Microstrategy, or Business Objects; Integrating 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party data; Interfacing and servicing senior executives from across a variety of disciplines such as analytics, creative, technical, or operations; Experience in large media, technology, ecommerce, or other subscription-based companies.


We are offering a salary range of $206,000 per year to $230,000 per year, depending upon qualifications.
