QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Earned doctoral level degree (O.D., Ph.D., or equivalent) degree from an accredited optometry school in a discipline related to the mission of the School of Optometry.
Experience and Training: Minimum of three years clinical experience in optometry or completion of an optometric residency. Experience in academic settings as an instructor or researcher is highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability: Strong foundation in optometric care and its various subspecialties. Ability to engage and inspire students. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to research and scholarly activity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide high-quality instruction in optometry courses, including lectures, labs, and clinical supervision.
- Develop and maintain a research program, with a focus on contributing to the body of knowledge in optometric science and practice.
- Engage in service activities within the School of Optometry, the university, and the broader professional community.
- Advise and mentor optometry students in academic, research, and clinical capacities.
- Collaborate with faculty members across departments to enhance interdisciplinary learning.
