Event Manager, Hospitality Team (Fixed Term)

In this highly visible and critical role the candidate will be responsible for leading dynamic and engaging hospitality events that drive new business and strengthen The Sony brand and community.  This position will report directly to the Head of Hospitality, Sony North America. 

The ideal candidate will have strong project management and communication skills and be able to work to priorities with little supervision. They must be highly organized, flexible, and have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while leading multiple complex projects within tight deadlines.

This role requires strong and mature interpersonal skills to manage our top customers, creators, press and executive events and activities. The candidate will work collaboratively with other team members to deliver a high standard of event excellence to the business stakeholders.  They should understand the business, corporate culture and be able to manage evolving priorities.  A high level of initiative, flexibility, creativity, and confidentiality is required to develop and manage successful events.

Note: This is a fixed term position with a 12 month duration.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Works with internal clients at all levels of the company to develop and pitch scope, vision, budget, event plan and execution of events
  • Manages internal and external events, including venue management, contract negotiations, financials, websites, communication materials and logistical arrangements for hospitality services.
  • Develops unique personalized branding concepts and event activities for a variety of different event attendees. (Press, Creators, Customers, VIPs) Manages multiple event itineraries for varying groups at each event.
  • Source, negotiate, and direct vendors for housing, travel, food and beverage, transportation, team building, staffing, décor, entertainment, AV, security, promotional/gifting items, and signage.
  • Responsible for event financial management and monthly budget reconciliation for events
  • Identifies creative solutions to find cost savings opportunities while adapting to ever-changing business needs and challenges
  • Collaborates with internal teams, events department, and vendor teams on the planning and execution of events.
  • Manages events independently or with teams. Guides teams through load-in, set-up, break-down, packing and load out. Supports other team event managers as needed for additional large-scale events.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years solid experience managing large-scale, visible corporate events
  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, communications, public relations, or a related field
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and event registration systems
  • Experienced in strategy, planning, forecasting, and budgeting of events of varying size and scope
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional appearance and strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, guide, supervise and support a team by example.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed client expectations
  • Demonstrated ability to provide organized, meaningful solutions within tight timelines and changing environments
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively track events trends and develop industry contacts
  • Technical & Audio-Visual knowledge (video/lighting production, electronics, and audio equipment)
  • Travel including weekends, holidays as required average 40% annually
  • Professionally represents the company and its clients in all transactions.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $96,614 to $100,000 annually.
