Job Description:

The Private Client Service (PCS) Senior Income Tax Advisor is responsible for the timely and effective tax compliance, relationship management, and planning for an assigned section of individual tax clients and trusts and estates. Works closely with Trust Officers and Investment Counselors to obtain tax information, file returns, and ensure appropriate planning is conducted and completed. The PCS Senior Income Tax Advisor provides direction on daily work flow and file activity to full-time Tax Analyst staff as well as temporary tax season preparers

  • Manages projects where depth and breadth of expertise includes multiple businesses and delivery modes
  • Maintains comprehensive understanding of current and proposed income tax laws and regulations
  • Evaluates their effect on the division's Clients, products and strategic objectives
  • Reviews key income tax issues on a regular basis
  • Evaluates the impact of current trends and events on Client income tax situations, alerts other internal staff to findings and develops recommendations to minimize Client tax liability and improve overall financial situations
  • Supports business development activities, coordinating with internal financial advisors, portfolio managers, external advisors, existing high net worth Clients, prospects and others to retain accounts, cross-sell existing Clients and develop new business relationships
  • Conducts product knowledge presentations with individual and institutional Clients, providing in-depth knowledge about tax products and services
  • Coordinates with other staff, internal departments and outside professionals to resolve more difficult Client Customer service issues, problems and requests
  • Communicates and ensures that regional staff communicates regularly with financial advisory, portfolio management, fiduciary services and other appropriate internal areas to give and receive updated Client information
  • Provides support and counsel to Relationship Managers
  • Coordinates with department management in the development of overall regional and group objectives, policies and procedures covering income tax business plans, financial policies, quality control processes and marketing goals, including budget and fee structures. Provides input based on problems, issues and opportunities that arise in the region
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of investment product taxation, including federal income tax law, multi-state income tax laws and foreign tax treaties
  • Evaluates the impact of current trends and events on Client accounts, alerts other internal staff to findings and makes policy recommendations to more experienced tax staff and management based on analysis
  • Coordinates income tax services for a designated region as a first level supervisor according to established Company policies and applicable legal and regulatory guidelines

   
Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or progressive work experience in addition to experience below
  • 7-10 Years of related experience
  • CPA preferred
  • Supervisory experience required
  • In-depth knowledge of fiduciary and/or personal income taxation
  • Project management skills
  • Action oriented
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Sales skills
  • Possesses business Acumen, has line of business credibility
  • Communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong background in the use of technology
