About the role

 

Part of the Laboratory's Information Services Department, the Business Intelligence and Data Analytics Team is leading a journey to advance the use of analytics across the Lab. We aim to make data readily accessible and trusted, accelerate the time-to-insight, and enable deep-dive analysis on an array of information. In collaboration with our Lab partners, our projects aim to uncover the story hidden in the data and to leverage data science techniques to predict outcomes and inform next actions.

 

Job Description

MIT Lincoln Laboratory has a need for a strong Data Modeling Analyst who can help lead the development and delivery of new, innovative analytics solutions.  A successful person will excel at both technical development and collaboration with business systems analysts and stakeholders from across the enterprise. 

This role is crucial to successfully advancing analytics across the Laboratory by ensuring we have robust, reliable solutions that generate significant value for the enterprise.   The Data Modeling Analyst will contribute at every stage of the project and act as an important connection between other technical teams and end-user communities.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and business systems analysts to help understand and define an opportunity – the scope, requirements, and success metrics. 
  • With a strong understanding of the various reporting platforms available to the team, develop prototypes and design solutions that best meet the needs of the organization.
  • Contribute to the iterative development, testing, and training process.
  • Play a key role in ensuring a successful solution launch and adoption.
  • Provide on-going post-launch support, as needed.

Requirements

  • Knowledge.  Strong, demonstrated knowledge of analytics platforms (SAP Analytics Cloud strongly preferred), data modeling, and solution development. Knowledge of data virtualization platforms is a plus.
  • Discipline.  Leverages standard best-practice approaches to managing work.  Organized, thorough, and well documented.
  • Collaboration.  Is actively inclusive with all stakeholders at various levels of the organization.  Openly solicits ideas and feedback.
  • Problem Solving.  Anticipates obstacles and considers a broad range of alternatives.  Involves others to overcome issues.  Not afraid to escalate trouble.
  • Autonomy.  Works independently and is confident using sound discretion and judgement.
  • Leadership.  Capable of leading tasks, projects, or programs within the working group.
  • Education/Experience.  Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of experience OR a master’s degree and 2+ years of experience OR the equivalent.
