Position Description

Anoka County Community Corrections provides a variety of correctional programs and services for justice-involved adults and juveniles. We strive to achieve our mission, “Working to Build a Safer Community,” by assisting clients to make positive life changes and reduce the risks for future criminal activity. The department has an opening for an Assistant Director of Community Corrections who will support leadership with the activities of the units that provide inmate housing, probation, supervision, education, and programming for both adult and juvenile offenders.

This is a full-time, exempt position. Interviews will take place the week of April 21, 2025 for those selected to move forward in the hiring process. 

Pay & Benefits

• Salary: $117,790.40 to $141,315.20 ($56.63 to $67.94 per hour).
• 2025 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 40. $117,790.40 to $164.840 ($53.42 to $79.25 per hour).

Work Location

• This position will be officed at the Anoka County Courthouse. The Corrections Department operates across three distinct campuses, and travel between these locations is required.
• Expected work hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Assistant Director, Community Corrections.

• Assist in providing departmental oversight and implement the strategic direction of the Anoka County Corrections department.  Although this position will initially be geared towards department-wide objectives, special attention will be placed on juvenile and adult institution operations. 
• Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct correctional service delivery and programs provided in Anoka County. 
• Analyze Corrections department needs and ensure program planning, budget, employee management, and policy development supports the implementation of comprehensive services for clients, stakeholders, and eligible participants.
• Review effectiveness of assigned programs including institutional services, adult and juvenile field services, and Court Services. Design and implement needed improvements.
• Limit financial risk to Anoka County by effectively managing program budget to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations including DOC Licensing and institutional healthcare.
• Participate in research and policy development at the state and local level for the future programmatic needs of Anoka County.
• Facilitate and participate in various committees to ensure community involvement and service coordination. Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders, partners, and community groups.
• Oversee collection of data and other information to evaluate program impact.
• Provide clinical support, team consultation, recruitment, annual performance reviews and disciplinary action for assigned programs and employees.
• Ensure ongoing training of managers, supervisors, and employees to ensure that clients receive effective and appropriate services.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Human Services, Social Work, or related field.
• Requires seven years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related exp
