Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Staff Research Associate II (SRA II) position will entail a large amount of animal work, including working with immunocompromised mice and cell line xenograft models of human cancer. Duties include but are not limited to: day-to-day care of animals, inoculating mice with human cancer cell lines, monitoring for tumor growth, oral/IV/IP drug administration, isolation of biological materials (DNA, RNA and protein) from precious animal and human tissues and cell lines, as well as the cataloging and management of the resources using relational computer database. The SRA II will be responsible for the management and daily use of critical laboratory resources including a frozen human tissue bank and human cell line stocks. In vitro culture of human cancer cell lines is also a responsibility of this position. The SRA II will be expected to perform nonstandard laboratory techniques to meet the needs of various research projects and troubleshoot existing lab protocols. They will also be responsible for the training of students, volunteers and new hires in each of these techniques.

Salary Range: $28.88 - $46.46 Hourly

Job Qualifications

Required:
  • Experience in biology, microbiology or related area
  • Ability in maintaining proper usage of laboratory equipment
  • Experience in tissue culture procedures
  • Ability to communicate well, work in a team, organize time and keep a detailed notebook
  • Experience working with mouse models of cancer


Preferred:
  • Ability to perform gel electrophoresis and PCR
  • Skill in using computer and Excel software
  • Ability to organize raw data into relevant formats
