About the role

The single ventricle psychologist will assume responsibilities for overseeing and providing services to Seattle Children’s population of single ventricle patients and their families, assuring that the patients and families are receiving optimal developmental, academic, emotional and social interventions and care, within a developmental and family-oriented context.   Starting at prenatal counseling, the psychologist will provide mental health support in coping with a chronic and severe medical illness, and then evaluate and support these families as their children undergo a medically intensive first year of life.   As children age, the psychologist will provide screening for behavioral and psychological conditions which have a high prevalence in this population.    In addition to screening in the Fontan clinic, the psychologist will provide ongoing therapy to a portion of these children and teens.  The psychologist will also help in the transition to adult care, and build tool for self-advocacy and independent navigation of mental health resources.    

The Single Ventricle Psychologist will work in close collaboration with members of the Single Ventricle team, including the cardiologist, nurses and nurse practitioners directly caring for these patients, as well as additional team members including palliative care teams, social workers, and child life therapy.   In addition, the pediatric psychologist will participate in family and community-oriented education and collaborate in program development, and follow up quality improvement and research projects.

  

Required Education/Experience:

PhD, PsyD, or Ed.D. in psychology, with specialization in child clinical psychology from an APA-accredited training program.

Completion of an APA-approved internship.

Formal post-doctoral training in an appropriate area of specialization.

May work evening & weekends as required.

Required Credentials:

Licensed as a Psychologist in the State of Washington.

Prior to start of employment, must obtain, and maintain in good standing, medical or allied health professional staff privileges that are not limited, revoked, suspended, conditioned, or probationary, except for normal probationary periods due to initial appointment.

All medical and allied health professional staff members are provisional for the first year.

Any and all medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children's will terminate automatically upon the termination of the individual's employment at Children's.

Termination of employment does not prohibit the individual from seeking medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children's as a non-employee in any category for which the individual qualifies.

Preferred:

Post-doctoral level experience in pediatric psychology.

Experience in a pediatric medical setting.

Compensation Range

$126,291 - $186,898 per year

  

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
