Essential Functions

  • Under general supervision, independently performs a variety of skilled practical nursing functions for physically ill, disabled, or geriatric residents in an assigned nursing unit and shift.
  • Observes, records, and reports to physicians, registered nurses, or the supervisory nurse the symptoms, reactions, and changes in residents’ conditions.
  • Provides for the emotional, physical comfort and security of residents.
  • Assists in maintaining working and living areas and supplies in good order.
  • Assists in providing guidance to nursing assistants relative to nursing techniques.
  • Performs selected nursing functions in situations which do not require the specialized knowledge and skill of a registered nurse.
  • Performs other duties as assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires Illinois license as a practical nurse.
  • Requires one (1) year of practical nursing experience.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires ability pass a background check.
  • Requires ability meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
  • Requires ability pass a drug screen and pre-employment physical.
  • Requires ability acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  • Requires ability attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of job duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • This position is considered heavy work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(d)).Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • On-call and overtime are a condition of employment, and you may be required to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime, and may be required to work alternating weekends. This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends. This also requires the ability to work in a 24 hour ‘on call’ capacity.

Work Hours: 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. R
