DEFINITION

This is a full-time non-exempt position reporting to the CIP Director. The Project Accounting Specialist will be responsible for providing the project team with accounting support, managing accounting for all projects and grants. Responsibilities include budgeting, tracking project expenses, and preparing financial reports, all while adhering to local, state, and federal guidelines.



EQUIPMENT/JOB LOCATION/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The Project Accounting Specialist will primarily work in an office setting, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and telephones. The job may require occasional travel to project sites and other locations for meetings. Physical demands include prolonged periods of sitting, working on a computer, and occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  • Provide accounting support to the project team.
  • Manage accounting for all projects and grants.
  • Develop and maintain systems to ensure projects and grants are tracked efficiently and accurately.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets.
  • Track project expenses and ensure they align with approved budgets.
  • Prepare and submit financial reports in compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the CIP Director and other team members to support project needs.
  • Maintain effective communication with team members and external stakeholders.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients.



Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • College degree in a related field or 5+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and other computer programs as needed.
  • Ability to develop systems for efficient and accurate tracking of projects and grants.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration among team members and providing customer service.
  • Ability to support the CIP Director as needed.



QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong background in accounting or finance, particularly in project and grant management.
  • Demonstrated experience with budgeting, expense tracking, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal guidelines related to project and grant accounting.
