Job Description
AECOM is in search of a dynamic Mid-level Electrical Engineer to be a part of our innovative Rail and Transit team in Oakland, CA; San Jose, CA; San Francisco, CA; Los Angeles, CA; San Diego, CA; Orange, CA; or Ontario, CA.
JOB SUMMARY:
This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop advanced electrical designs for industrial and commercial power systems under the guidance of our Senior Engineer. As part of a multidisciplinary team comprised of Engineers and Specialists from various disciplines (including Systems Engineering, Signals, Data Communications, and Project Controls), you'll work alongside Project Managers, Systems Engineers, Signals Engineers, Analysts, and Coordinators to deliver exceptional outcomes.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Spearhead the development of design drawings and documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, proposals, calculations, and studies related to industrial and commercial power systems.
- Ensure all design components align with the pertinent industry codes and standards, as well as client expectations.
- Oversee and mentor drafters/designers and junior engineers in creating designs for distribution power systems, including but not limited to One-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, communications, conduit, and cable sizing/routing, and physical layouts, as well as in the selection of MV/LV electrical equipment.
- Lead the problem-solving process on design and engineering issues, implementing innovative and effective solutions.
- Engage clients professionally, discussing technical topics and resolving any discrepancies between customer expectations and technical issues.
- Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to handle tight schedules, control project budgets, and inspire junior staff.
- Actively participate in project planning, risk management, and performance optimization.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Status as an Engineer in Training.
- Preference is given to Professional Engineers registered in California.
- At least 4+ years of experience in industrial or commercial power systems design or a related engineering field.
- Demonstrated success in multi-disciplinary teams and across varied business units.
- Exposure to different Phases of the Engineering Design Life.
