POSITION SUMMARY

Under the on-site supervision of a Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Speech-Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant assists with departmental operations and patient care in accordance with an established physician plan of care and in compliance with applicable licensure/certification requirements, Texas state practice acts, and Hunt Memorial Hospital District policies and procedures. You are responsible for the registration of patients with a focus on customer service, gathering information, scheduling appointments, upfront collections, and the ability to interpret and ensure compliance with payor guidelines for accurate input. Duties may include calling to verify insurance and receiving authorization for treatment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

High school diploma or equivalent with ability to read, write and follow written instructions.

Minimum Work Experience

Prior experience working with the public.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Ability to function with minimal supervision and accept responsibility for establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with patients/family members; ability to meet minimum hiring standards. Ability to interpret and generate written correspondence utilizing proper grammar, spelling and composition skills. Ability to operate office equipment, such as copy machines and fax machines. Good communication skills are essential.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires a willingness to work well with others and demonstrate courtesy, tactfulness, professionalism, compassion and confidentiality. He/she should be alert to detect conditions that are dangerous to the patients or personnel. Requires visual and hearing acuity for patient care and pertinent detail for job responsibilities. Contact or exposure to a contagious disease/infection is a possibility, but practicing and taking proper precautions will minimize this risk. Must be able to meet the physical demands which include standing, walking, bending, lifting and transferring. Must be able to work in a busy and stressful environment.
