The Role at a Glance

The Actuarial Development Program 

The Actuarial Development Program (ADP) at Lincoln Financial Group is an industry-leading program that demonstrates Lincoln Financial’s commitment to creating highly qualified business leaders.  As an ADP participant, you’ll be able to explore your unique interests while developing the essential actuarial, technical, management, communication, and leadership skills you need to succeed. The Actuarial Development Program includes a series of rotations, typically every 18-24 months. For each rotation, roles are available in different business areas including Life and Annuities, Retirement and Group Protection. Experience gained will enable participants to become well-rounded actuaries with knowledge that may include Product Development, Pricing, Reinsurance, Inforce Management, Valuation, Financial Projections, Risk Management, Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial Strategy & Management, Appointed Actuary, Experience Studies, Modeling and Data Analytics & Actuarial Transformation. 

 

ADP participants are expected to pass the Society of Actuaries’ exams at a prescribed pace. The program is designed to support you as you work towards your FSA and provide the training and resources necessary to become a well-rounded actuarial leader.

The Role at a Glance 

 

The Enterprise Risk Modeling role will offer an Associate Actuary the opportunity to showcase their skill set in data visualization, financial reporting, and actuarial modeling. The objective is to use their actuarial knowledge and analysis toolkit to provide insight and support regarding Life and Annuities initiatives, while also developing an alternative modeling solution. The candidate will have the opportunity to leverage their communication and collaborative skills to maximize engagement across the enterprise. This role will also involve transforming complex data gatherings into reporting and analysis tools for management.  

What you'll be doing

  • Reconstruct actuarial output from pricing, valuation, and capital models, to incorporate innovative ways to assess risk. 
  • Valid model inputs and output for accuracy, reliability, and best practices 
  • Enhance modeling techniques using industry best practices, and modeling innovations.  
  • Creating proxy models to identify output tendencies. 
  • Construct, Model, and Analyze realistic synthetic actuarial scenarios to develop stressed events and unforeseen occurrences. 
  • Project Account Values, Cash Flows, and Reserves using proxy models, to compare with actual actuarial results. 
  • Communication modeling results using data visualization for peer usage and management reporting. 
  • Document methodologies used to develop proxy models and synthetic scenarios. 
  • Collaborate with actuarial business units including Group, RPS, Life and Annuities to assist on special projects, and ad-hoc requests from management.

What we’re looking for

  • 3-6+ years of experience in actuarial science that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position. 
  • At least 7 actuarial exams passed; typically has ASA designation, progressing towards FSA designation 
  • Undergraduate degree or 4+ years of comparable work experience. Education concentration in mathematics, actuarial science, business or science is preferred. 


Actuarial Modeling Toolkit: 

  • Knowledge of an actuarial software programs: MG-ALFA, Axis 
  • Knowledge of data integration tools: SQL, Power BI, Alteryx, Dataiku etc.
