The Collins Engineering Laboratory provides experimental testing services for research, development, new product validation and verification, and in-service field problems.  The Lab’s test facilities are organized into several specialized labs, including Pneumatics, Fuel, Hydro-Mechanical, Electronics/EMI, Vibration, and Metrology Labs.  Our development focus is Electric, Environmental & Engine Systems, Propulsion, and Space Systems. 

The Engineering Labs Supervisor is responsible for the management of the Technicians who construct and operate the laboratory facilities used to simulate the real-world environments that Collins Aerospace products will encounter in everyday use.

What You Will Do

  • Manage a team of 15-25 unionized hourly Lab Technicians
  • Interface between our Engineering customers and Laboratory Engineering staff
  • Determine work schedule, job assignment, allocations of manpower and equipment based on program priority
  • Clearly and effectively communicate vision, direction, goals, and expectations
  • Establish standards and expectations for work efforts and performance of direct reports
  • Effectively motivate, coach, discipline, and reward associates; manage and resolve conflict
  • Take a lead role in driving performance metrics:  Delivery, Quality, Customer Satisfaction, Financial, and EH&S
  • Perform administrative function associates with Hourly Bargaining Unit employees, including timekeeping, overtime, training, and performance feedback
  • Model and promote Environmental Health & Safety policies and goals.  Ensure EH&S compliance
  • Responsible for Calibration and Preventative Maintenance programs

Qualifications You Must Have

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Familiarity with AS9100 Aerospace Quality System
  • Experience with calibration, metrology, electronic test equipment and instrumentation
  • Supervisory and quality engineering experience
  • Experience establishing strong working relationships across multiple business units
  • Experience prioritizing multiple projects
