What you will do:
This is professional accounting work position located in a Fiscal Office environment involving independent application of a variety of accounting skills to a phase of an agency's accounting program.
How you will make an impact:
- Maintains the general account ledger of an agency with the responsibility for handling a wide variety of funds or maintains subsidiary ledgers.
- Maintains controls and performs balancing operations on a large number of accounting activities.
- Prepares in-depth fiscal analysis.
- Assists in budget preparation.
- Conducts special studies and makes recommendations.
- Analyzes accounting functions to determine their legality, propriety, and effectiveness.
- Recommends changes to accounting procedures and assists in the development of new accounting procedures.
- Audit vendor invoices and/or employee reimbursements for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Florida Statutes, Florida Administrative Code, directives, policies, procedures, and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Audit and process contractual payments timely through the appropriate financial system; Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR) and MyFloridaMarketPlace (MFMP).
- Research and resolve payment inquiries from vendors and employees; effectively communicate results to requestors by email as well as by telephone; identify recurring issues and report statistical results to management; conduct training as needed on proper invoice submission.
- Reconcile the Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR) payment voucher schedules to the pending vendor invoices, identify the sampled vouchers required for auditing by the Department of Financial Services (DFS) and prepare voucher schedules and supporting documentation for submission to DFS.
