As a member of the Global Business Units Legal group within the Legal Department, you will be part of Vantive’s Global Business Units function, reporting directly to the Deputy General Counsel for the Americas and Global Business Units.

Opportunity

  • Vantive has launched a search for a Senior Counsel, Digital, and seeks a sophisticated and strategic attorney.  The successful candidate will counsel and collaborate with senior business leaders in the healthcare commercial and digital space.
  • The candidate sought for this role will be a proven, high-potential candidate with deep healthcare digital and transactional expertise, strong intellectual and communication capabilities, technical skills, and an ability and desire to grow with the organization.
  • The candidate will oversee and lead Vantive’s legal digital health strategy.

Position Overview/Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will demonstrate the experience and qualities of a valued business attorney and a genuine team player by:

  • Understanding the strategic and tactical, short-, mid, and long-term objectives of the business and the associated legal implications of business plans and processes.
  • Acting as business counsel to improve clinical outcomes by leveraging digital tools, including, but not limited to, AI, mobile health apps, and data analytics.
  • Providing legal advice with respect to the development of clinical platforms, partnerships and alliances with third-party vendors and customers, and data analytics and insights.
  • Providing advice and counsel with respect to digital initiatives and data enablement strategies.
  • Coordinating with other legal department subject matter experts to provide guidance on compliance with privacy, fraud and abuse laws, and applicable antitrust laws, and Vantive’s ethics and compliance policies.
  • Staying current with legal, regulatory and governmental developments impacting Vantive’s enterprise data and digital initiatives.
  • Evidencing knowledge of and the ability to identify issues and advise clients in multiple areas of healthcare law that potentially impact the business, including relevant laws and regulations.
  • Helping the business proactively identify and resolve issues to meet objectives.
  • Advising the business on commercial, data strategy, and advertising/promotional matters.
  • Developing long and short-term legal solutions that consider the current and future needs of the business.
  • Taking leadership roles among in-house and outside counsel on specific initiatives, projects and/or goals.
  • Delegating, obtaining resources, or taking actions that move projects to closure while maximizing personnel and business unit effectiveness.
  • Effectively and cost efficiently managing and directing outside counsel as needed to support execution of projects, transactions or matters.

Education and Experience

  • JD from a nationally or internationally recognized institution.
  • Minimum of ten (10) or more years of experience, preferably with a mix of work at a top law firm and a comparable in-house, corporate environment with a high level of complexity and direct commercial contracting and counseling experience. Medical device or pharmaceutical experience preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of AI Technology or Digital health experience.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment as a member of a healthcare company.
  • Expert level experience with complex commercial contracts.
  • Demonstrated experience in resolving challenging legal issues and ability to deliver sound, clear, solutions-oriented legal advice in a business setting.
