JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for ensuring the efficient execution and delivery of software projects within our organization. This role requires a strong understanding of software development processes and methodologies, as well as the ability to lead and manage a team of project managers in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for the Project Management Office in alignment with the company's software development goals.
- Provide leadership and direction to the software project management team, ensuring consistent practices and standards across projects.
- Partner with senior executives and stakeholders to ensure software projects are in alignment with business strategy and objectives.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of software projects, ensuring they meet quality, time, and budget targets.
- Establish and maintain software project management best practices, frameworks, and processes, such as Agile, Scrum, and DevOps.
- Monitor project performance and provide guidance and support to project managers to ensure successful project delivery.
- Manage the software project portfolio, prioritizing projects based on strategic value and resource availability.
- Allocate resources effectively across software projects, ensuring optimal utilization and team capacity.
- Track and report on software project portfolio performance, including key metrics and outcomes.
- Build and lead a high-performing team of software project managers and support staff.
- Mentor and develop project management professionals, providing training and career development opportunities.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative environment within the PMO.
- Serve as a key point of contact for software project-related communications with senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Provide regular updates and reports on software project status, risks, and performance to stakeholders.
- Manage and resolve software project-related issues and escalations in a timely and effective manner.
- Continuously assess and improve software PMO processes and methodologies for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in software project management and incorporate them into PMO practices.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.
- 5+ years experience in software project management, including leadership roles, with a strong track record of successful software project delivery.
- Strong knowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, and DevOps.
- Proven experience in building and leading high-performing software project management teams.
- Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PMI-ACP, CSM) is preferred.
