The Role

Senior Software Engineer - Capsid Data Science. Software is at the heart of Dyno’s platform, and your work as a part of the Capsid Data Science team can have a major impact on the future of gene therapy. The Capsid Data Science team focuses on translating our data into scientific insights and iterative capsid design. The team has a central role in synthesizing data from across Dyno to identify and evaluate top capsids in the context of our product goals. Engineers and computational scientists on the team work together to generate data-driven insights and outputs that drive machine learning models and strategic decision-making.

How You Will Contribute

As a Senior Software Engineer within the Capsid Data Science team, you will take a leading role in designing and developing the core software services and infrastructure that enable Dyno to reshape the gene therapy landscape. You will collaborate closely with other engineers, computational scientists, and stakeholders to improve data accessibility and tooling, optimize and scale workflows, identify novel software and cloud engineering solutions, and drive organizational software strategy. In addition to technical contributions, you will bring an engineer’s mindset to the problems we face in building the world’s best capsid engineering platform.

Responsibilities: 

• Expand data analysis infrastructure to improve the scalability and reliability of data processing and exploration.
• Build tools that accelerate critical scientific investigations, showcase the value of our capsids to customers, and improve data accessibility across the company.
• Develop infrastructure to support data science and computational biology workflows.
• Collaborate with computational scientist colleagues to translate scientific needs into engineering solutions.
• Contribute to existing data infrastructure and expand data access functionalities.
• Guide software best practices and development patterns within the team.
• Conceive of, plan, and lead projects end-to-end.

Basic qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field.
• 4+ years of software engineering experience in industry.
• Experience developing and maintaining data processing and analysis pipelines. 
• Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining complex software platforms in the cloud.
• Expertise in Python and SQL. 

Nice-to-have qualifications

• Work experience at a leading software company or early responsibility in software-driven startups.
• Fluency with software life-cycle best practices and DevOps. 
• Experience collaborating with data scientists.
• Experience in database design, distributed computing, data pipelines, and/or computational analysis workflows.
• Experience with one or both of Docker and Kubernetes.
• Some familiarity with or interest in computational biology concepts, especially sequencing data and methods.
