Job Location: Longmont, CO 80504Salary Range: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 SalaryWe are seeking a Senior Health and Safety (H&S) Specialist to drive key Health and Safety programs and initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensures the EHS Compliance Calendar is accurate, up to date, and used to plan resources to ensure all H&S compliance activities are completed on time
- Oversees the Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) program and use H&S expertise to train others in the organization on the JHA method
- Analyzes EHS data for trends, makes recommendations to drive improvements and ensures authorized improvements are sustainably implemented
- Reviews and updates Health and Safety Policies and SOPs
- Oversees EHS forms and work instructions; collaborates with affected departments to review, updates, and maintains in compliance with applicable regulations and current BSC practices
- Develops and continuously improves the EHS document management system
- Oversees the OSHA logs process
- Reviews batch records for appropriate H&S information including PPE, safe work procedures, etc.
- Develops Safety Data Sheets via authoring software for new and existing BSC products
- Administers New Chemical Review Program; works with Sourcing and R&D to ensure all chemicals are adequately assessed prior to purchase
- Coordinates activities of the Site Safety Committee and serves as the technical resource expert
- Manages and tracks EHS data and KPIs
- Manages EHS communication on electronic boards; promotes effective communication programs to enhance and encourage awareness of EHS risks and compliance
- Manages notifications and groups in the Alert Media emergency response communication system
- Supports quarterly emergency response and preparedness communication meetings between BSC and local government agencies
- Leads incident investigations and facilitates identification of causal factors as well as corrective and preventive actions to prevent reoccurrence
- Provides effective Health & Safety Training for new hire orientation and periodic refresher courses
- Manages the EHS Training Matrix ensuring all employees have an accurate training plan and the training is delivered and documented
- Ensures inspections of critical equipment are effectively completed as needed
- Assists in developing the annual IH monitoring plan, conducts IH sampling, and facilitates third party IH monitoring
- Ensures the appropriate PPE is identified and there is a program to ensure PPE is available for all employees
- Participates in the Emergency Response Team as an Emergency Coordinator
- Ensures security and confidentiality of documents and data
- Drives between BSC sites in own vehicle
- Must be able to pass a job-related physical
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety or related field preferred; or equivalent work and educational qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Health and Safety related position; manufacturing environment preferred
- Obtained or pursuing a Health and Safety related certification (ASP, CSP, CIH, etc.) preferred
Experience:
- General foundational knowledge of EHS regulations and standards (OSHA, CDPHE, ANSI, NFPA, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience communicating effectively with production employees, engineers, technical specialists, and management
- At least four years effectively leading cross-functional teams, defining clear goals, and achieving results
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- At least four years working in a EH&S or Safety organization
- Experience working with organization confidential information
