Sr. EHS Engineer - Haz Waste & Wastewater

Key Areas of Responsibility:
Work with Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) professionals and onsite business personnel in semiconductor manufacturing operations to implement & sustain programs designed to ensure worker health and safety, protection of the environment, compliance with regulatory requirements and
reduction of risk. EHS staff may be asked to work on the following:
- occupational health and safety
- environmental engineering
- pollution prevention
- chemical treatment and recycling systems
- fire prevention and protection systems
- industrial hygiene
- hazardous exposure prevention
- ergonomics and body mechanics
- sustainability engineering
Typical activities include:
- Review regulatory changes that could impact site EHS operations through interpretation of regulations, interaction with work teams and production personnel, the development and implementation of technical and non-technical solutions.
- Sample for analyses, various media (air, water, waste) for permit compliance
- Prepare and submit permit compliance reports and permit renewal applications
- Prepare for and participate in EHS and other NXP audits (e.g. ISO 14001, 45001 and 18001)
- Interact with external governmental agencies on compliance related issues
- Gather EHS metrics for data compilation and input in various database system
- Review / revise internal NXP EHS standards and documents
- Work with NXP staff at other sites on a variety of projects
- Limited domestic travel may be required
Education & Experience Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a technical field (Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Materials Engineering, Environmental Science or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a relevant EHS field
- EHS knowledge related to Semiconductor IC manufacturing is preferred
- Experience in managing small teams or project implementation highly preferred
- Good written and verbal English communication skills
- Work independently and collaboratively across various functional groups
- Ability to complete assignments, resourcefulness to find answers and solve problems.
- Good interactive skills in working with site personnel and agency regulators
- Familiarity with EHS and chemical nomenclature
- Familiarity with MS Office tools (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, and Outlook)
