Rotating shifts, mostly days including some weekends. Will be a mix of staffing and project days focusing on ADC maintenance
The person in this position would do a combination of staffing and managing several ADC related tasks, such as running various reports, determining meds to have loaded/unloaded, reviewing par levels to minimize stockouts and waste due to drug expiration; they will also be responsible for handling tasks related to troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance of the ADCs. This person should possess the following to excel in this position: 1. Excellent communication skills to work with others involved in ADC processes, including techs, pharmacists, and nurses; 2. The ability to prioritize and reprioritize tasks during shifts as required; 3. The ability to complete tasks independently.
Pay Range
$24.85 - $37.30Major Responsibilities:
- Leads the shift or area by assigning, monitoring, and reviewing progress and accuracy of technician work. Acts as a resource to team members and provides day to day direction including addressing urgent customer and team member needs. Provides guidance on more complex issues and escalates concerns and resource needs to department leadership as appropriate.
- Assists with human resource responsibilities which may include interviewing, selection, development, conflict resolution, and engagement. Assists in interpreting policy and procedures and updates staff on changes. Holds team members accountable to policy and procedure.
- Identifies quality improvement opportunities and collaborates with site leaders to design and implement quality improvement initiatives. Leads teams to identify best practices support implementations.
- Works in a flexible manner to ensure that department resources are appropriately distributed and that a safe environment is maintained at all times. Assumes duties for other technicians as needs arise. Serves as a role model for safe, effective, and efficient care and as a liaison between technician team and department leadership.
- Runs appropriate reports to ensure that productivity, financial, legal, regulatory, and accreditation needs are being met on each shift. Follows up when gaps are identified and promptly escalates concerns.
- Oversees use of automation and technology to maintain equipment and provide a safe and effective work environment. Troubleshoots department automation and complex distribution needs.
- Ensures that department documentation is correct and satisfies all legal, regulatory, and accrediting bodies. Addresses gaps in documentation and escalates concerns to department leaders promptly.
- Participates in the development and implementation of training materials and programs. Trains other team members and helps ensure that orientation, training, education and competency are complete and documented.
- Actively takes part in sharing information in department huddles and team member meetings. Collaborates with department leadership to ensure updates and changes are effectively communicated to all team members. Identifies opportunities to improve team member engagement and culture of safety in the department.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
Licensure (IL only): Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Student; Certification (CPhT) issued by PTCB; State of Wisconsin (registration).
Patient facing teammates may be required to have two certifications: Immunization and non-vaccine injectable to be granted from the state of WI or if from out of state, the program is approved by the accreditation council for pharmacy education (ACPE) or by the WI pharmacy examining board.
Education Required:
- High School Graduate.
Experience Required:
- Typically requires 5 years of experience in a hospital technician role.
